Postpartum Essentials: How to find your balance

75.00

When you are in the throws of new motherhood, things can be bittersweet, to say the least. Those first few weeks (or months) can be profound yet demanding. Demanding of your time, sleep and emotions. One in four mothers experience postpartum depression/anxiety. Everyone thinks that this transition “should be” difficult (the level of difficulty and struggle will be relative to your own personal experience) . You won't necessarily know how you will cope till you are faced with the sleepless nights and hormones fluctuations. The focus of this class is for expectant mothers to explore creativity, dialogue and playful expression, as a means to proactively prep for the postpartum phase.

DATES & TIMES:
December 16th 2:00-6:00PM
2018 dates - TBD

Limited to 6 spaces.

EARTH ART - ROCK MANDALA'S

In this workshop you will learn the basics of mandalas, create your own design and paint it on your rock. You can take home up to three painted rocks!

Why are circles believed to be so powerful?

- The circle is a symbol of wholeness, continuity, connection, unity, harmony and the cycle of life.
- Unlike other shapes, the circle flows and has no hard edges or angles.
- Circles are believed to help individuals focus inward.

In various spiritual traditions, mandalas are used to facilitate meditation and are used in sacred rites as a transformative tool to assist with healing. Tibetan Buddhist Monks and Native American Indians all use mandalas as a way of evoking spiritual energy, meditation and healing.

ART JOURNALLING

Art journalling encourages self-expression without having to use words. It is one of the most relaxing ways to make art because no one will see it (unless you want to show them!). Everything you make is contained within your own personal journal.
Each class will focus on a "journal prompt" and a bit of mindfulness. You will learn how to use mixed media collage techniques, layering and paper shapes to create pages reflective of your personal story.
